Background

This Enterprise Data & Analytics team of a major financial institutional was undertaking a restructure of their delivery & technology capability, including core skillsets required to move from traditional waterfall delivery to a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) aligned delivery model.

Opportunity

The Agility Concept was offered the opportunity to assist with building the Scrum Master & Release Train Engineer capability for the Enterprise Data & Analytics team. This involved reviewing the current capability and making recommendations on transitioning skillsets and seeking capability & skills outside of the organisation. Our client viewed our delivery capability offering as a more cost effective & long lasting option to their traditional consultancies & recruitment providers.

What We Did

As part of an agile transformation engagement we were running in parallel, we delivered the following outcomes:

  • Reviewed the current organisational structure, team mapping against demand, and team designs to understand capacity gaps across Release Train Engineer & Scrum Master skill sets
  • Provided recommendations of aligning existing team members into RTE & Scrum Master gaps; and
  • For remaining skills gaps we developed a talent acquisition plan & roadmap. Note our roadmap also included how we could phase out our transformation consultants as we moved through the embedding phase with our RTE & Scrum Master consultants.
  • Total team of 6 was interviewed, hired & onboarded within 10 weeks of agreeing to a Statement of Work with our client
  • Once onboarding commenced we immediately got to work with ensuring training & operating model alignment was undertaken; including
  • A major emphasis on the enterprise delivery KPI’s, operating model, team ways of working & cultural dynamics.
  • Daily internal standups to continuously drive alignment & unblocking of by the wider consulting team, driving an accelerated delivery impact
